Notes:
Whilst i-CABLE will endeavor to provide service requested by the
customer however the service requested may not be available for
various reasons including the following:
- Non-availability of copper wire. This would normally happen in buildings where i-CABLE provides service by leasing the local loop or last mile of PCCW-HKT. The copper wire may not be available for various reasons including non-existence of wire; building is now served by PCCW-HKT via fibre; other services are being carried over the same wire by PCCW-HKT; wire is being reserved etc.
- The building concerned is in fact served by another telephone exchange of PCCW-HKT. This would normally happen in cases where i-CABLE provides service by leasing the local loop or last mile of PCCW-HKT. PCCW-HKT does not provide i-CABLE with the list of buildings covered by a particular telephone exchange of PCCW-HKT. Currently i-CABLE is only able to base its estimate on the exchange boundary map, however it should be noted that sometimes the boundary information may not be 100% accurate and is subject to change which i-CABLE would not be notified until it places application for local loop service from PCCW-HKT.
- Non- availability of subscriber-tie cable from PCCW-HKT - Again this would normally happen in buildings in cases where i-CABLE provides service by leasing the local loop or last mile of PCCW-HKT. To increase capacity in subscriber-tie cable i-CABLE has to apply to PCCW-HKT and there is a lead-time of approximately 6 to 8 weeks if the application is accepted by PCCW-HKT. Application may be rejected if spare threshold is not met at the time of application or there is no space for installation of additional capacity.
- Blockwiring may not necessarily be available from PCCW-HKT in the building in question. Given a lack of space it is not physically feasible for i-CABLE to build additional ones.
- Cabling work problems - this may be due to a number of reasons including:
- other tenants do not allow cabling work at their office which is the only path for cabling;
- existing facilities such as conduit, manhole, trunking are full;
- Building Management Office does not allow i-CABLE to do cabling work or access existing cabling system; or
- customers do not allow cabling work as it may affect their premises decoration.
- Localized shortage of facilities and resources - this is due to a number of reasons including:
- cables of the local box serving the customer have been used up and cables cannot reach other local box on the same floor;
- riser cables of the adjacent floors being used up; or
- certain features and functions must be provided by particular equipment which is not available for the building.
